Rest Weeks in Action

Don’t feel guilty about taking a week off of training. When you’ve been consistently chiselling away for 8-12 weeks in the gym it makes sense to and you’re likely really in need of a deload, rest week.

Throughout your training journey you’ll be getting rest – week2week, a day off here or there but a recovery week is that rest week that allows you to prepare for the next phase of training.

Without a doubt, if you’ve not been consistent in the gym you don’t need to take that week off. And in reality you’ll still be training, that week will just be at a restricted intensity. Taking this week off can do wonders for the inconsistent schedule by you the gym user reintroducing yourself to the gym and exercise flows available to you.

When I think of my schedule generally with work, connecting to family, study and prayer, I’d say I do live an active lifestyle – with balance. I have goals of being in the gym three days a week, cycling and walking day2day and also walking to the Masjid for prayers. With all this I will plan to take a rest week after a cycle of 12-weeks training.

You can be active outside of the gym too if that’s your preference. Going for daily walks or jogging would be a good way to deload. While I’m in KSA I’m taking this as my deload week and I’ve been active with prayer and walks to the masjid.

Avoid burnout – get rest – come back stronger
