Peace and blessings to you, thanks for visiting Be the Criterion! We are the home of fitness and nutrition advice; sound and trustworthy – backed by science and with a history that goes deep. Our coaching is elevating, improving and changing lives. In this Coffee Shop Convo I will be short, sweet and to the point.
I’ve been a Personal Trainer to private clients for 2 years, online and in-person, I’ve been running and gym training for my own health, signed up to some memberships and let some go. I have to ask myself what is it for though? Then the answer comes, the answer that many people struggling with bad food choices recognise and it’s a better quality of life.

Quality of life is what I got into training for, to be the best version of myself and at times I can let that slip, or have done due to the stress of changes to family circumstances, work, motivation. I’m about ready to go for a new push so the question will be ”How many REPs did you do on the Bench?” What I’m saying is, I plan to dive into Fitness to give better advice with my own South London style so my readers can relate and learn to love training, health, themselves. Hopefully you’ll start to see more Black and Ethnic Minority Men at the Coffee Shop after the Gym session having their own Coffee Shop Convo’s.
A tip I can give to all readers of this post, or advice is, to start your training at your next available opportunity even if it lasts just a few minutes. Prepare the mind with intentional exercise movements even if it be a few box squats – sitting in your chair and raising up again because this will prime your body and mind for exercise and once you’re into your real for real exercise sessions you’ll be prepared for the struggle and work that goes into building and nurturing your better quality of life.
My name is Hanif Tagoe – Personal Trainer and Nutritionist (advisor) for Be the Criterion. Look out for more gym plan downloads available soon.
