The communities I connect to most are based around life, living well and doing better for one-self. Aside from the fitness aspect of Be the Criterion we have our foundation and purpose in Islam and heritage tracing back to West Africa and Hip-Hop Culture. I’m a revert Muslim from South London and I love nothing more than a good meal, a nice new gym fit (clothing), a training session and to connect with like minded people. The worship of Allah, God, the loving and most high is what keeps everything running and in good order.
Respect to the like-minded men that enjoy exercise and staying healthy, would rather get up and out of the house in the morning for a run as opposed to sitting to watch breakfast TV and put their efforts into their families and community in the hope that future generations will benefit from that which the final Prophet Muhammad left us upon. I’m a Sunni Muslim Personal trainer and my name is Hanif. This website is Be the Criterion, focused on self-development through fitness and nutrition.

The sad thing is that not too many of the men in the communities I connect with have a drive and desire to exercise enough of the time. Chasing wealth and the adornments of the world have deluded many of us, to the point that health starts to dip unexpectedly and with time an enviousness for those fitness inspired people can take hold. If this sounds like you, you’ve started to hate seeing people jogging, exercising, looking healthy and happy, and buying healthy food, this post is for you!
Envy can be beneficial when one uses that envy to motivate themselves to do the good that they have seen in others. The other side of that would be to hate the other person and wish for the blessings they have to be removed from them, not cool! Why wish ill health on another person when you can get after it, get healthy, get in your bag and get on your own ‘A-game’ to show the world just how grateful to Allah azz awa jal you are for the blessing of life he has given us all!?

Just get to the training already. When you exercise you release chemicals from the brain into the blood stream that make you feel good. You actually feel better for exercising; this benefits your mood during the day and when you maintain this over time you’ll elevate your overall mood and mental health. This can help you to perform better and with less effort at work, your family and friends will start to notice positive change within your looks and confidence, you can even save yourself money assuming you tune-up your diet to reflect the effort you put into training.
Does time have to limit you or is it an excuse that slips out easily? The majority of us aren’t as busy as we believe we are when we truly take ourselves to account and block off the paths to procrastination. There are many ways to go about setting up a schedule for your days and weeks so you make the most of your time but the most important thing is to make your schedule realistic and manageable so you can see the progress being made over a period of time.

This week I intend to be the best of myself and show the world that reality. This is a statement to live by every day, week, month and year – to be the best of myself. The way I do it is by revolving my time around the three pillars of progress for my life which are Prayer, Work and Fitness. The prayer is to put oneself in their proper place with good manners and character, knowing the final return is to the One God of us all. Work pays for the needs and bills and allows for a better quality of living but money isn’t the only benefit of working. Connection to colleagues and the community, a sense of belonging and service are also achieved through working and fitness benefits quality of life, health, family and so much more as you’ll learn from my posts.
It’s time to elevate your life and mood. The Man was created to serve and be the provider, strong and energetic. If you find this aspect of your life lacking at the moment you can message me on Instagram or X-twitter (links at the bottom of the page) for a chat about your needs. I help Men only so Muslim sisters that need coaching, I’ll refer you to someone that may be better suited to your needs.
