In 2023 I had a rough year in terms of family issues which bled into my training and to a lesser degree my eating habits. I kept it clear in my head that I’d get back to training in a gym setting in 2024 which is where I’ve achieved the most change in health terms – although home training is still cool with me! I understand better than I ever did the situation of people that say I don’t have the time to exercise due to x, y, z.
I understand that the thought of adding more to your plate is daunting, but what will weigh heavier on you in later life will be the thought of not taking the chance to gain control over your health sooner. You’re working days need not change drastically, try waking up 15 minutes earlier each day for a week and start the day with stretching. After a week or two of stretching add another 20 minutes for bodyweight and cardiovascular exercise – for a programme of exercise WhatsApp me saying ‘I need training help,’ see contact page for details on messaging me. This will help you set tangible SMART goals.
It’s said we are what we eat which is a scary thought! I appreciate that you’re reading this because it says you care about yourself and likely the family and friendship circles you keep. The food you bring home should generally be in line with your goals because that’s how you avoid scuppering your progress.

If you add one thing to your lifestyle this year let it be increased physical activity. Fitness training may look easy, dumb, weird, funny-weird, boring, or a host of degrading slurs one may think of but believe me, once you find the style of physical activity and exercise that meets your needs, you’ll likely eat your words. As for me in 2024 I intend to cycle more, gym-gym more, run more, walk more, BJJ more, more, more, more – the specifics I won’t get into.
Having a bad experience, losing sight of the point of exercise – which is to give your body it’s due right to be used and maintained in ways pleasing to our creator – would turn most people away from exercise, looking at the figures of gym memberships per household would tell an interesting story. Whatever the reason you have for slacking on your Ski erg pulls doesn’t matter, the time it takes you to walk a mile on the treadmill doesn’t have to excite the world, as long as you’re happy with your progress! But in saying that, do consider working with a Personal Trainer, like myself, to ensure you’re working safely and progressing.
2024 is just another year my friend, the up-hill climb is still arduous, and a hater is still a hater. The difference is you have a new goal right!? Nice, so, I hope you’ll come back to read more of my posts, and I have your back with coaching be it online live streaming, programmes, and nutritional advice. Be The Criterion can help you in your goals.
