Fitness culture has some benefits. It’s all good exercising, seeing the world and getting your physical activity needs sorted in ways you enjoy, there’s nothing wrong with that at all. We all need exercise in our lives in all the forms from cardio training, strength work and flexibility work. But as men seeking to be the best versions of ourselves, we can go to extremes in seeking ‘perfection.’ In Islamic terms ‘perfection’ is for Allah (azza wa jal) alone so why seek it in this life? Okay, yes we need to do our absolute best in all the good actions and speech we put out into the world but attaining a physical aesthetic that you’ll always be pleased with is highly unlikely to be reached.
‘Take it easy. The road to good health is until the grave, the sought after look and feel you have for yourself is good, we all need goals in life…’
Take it easy. The road to good health is until the grave, the sought after look and feel you have for yourself is good, we all need goals in life to save ourselves from becoming stagnated. However, rest is also important! Just looking at the beautiful weather we have been blessed with this month (so far) should be a sign to ‘show out’ in the best possible way. I’m not saying quit the gym but rather enjoy and reflect upon your existence while outside the gym.

I like my sportswear, but I also like to wear a thobe or shirt and trousers although fitness, health and growth are on my mind, my work and passion. I enjoy getting a heavy training session in at home, gym, walking, running, or cycling but the life of a man needs to be more than hitting the best set/rep attained by anyone in the area.
Has there ever been a more perfect time to train in the park or run to the shops? It saddens me to see men in the gym training in clothing that doesn’t cover their private areas, which only entices women within the gathering to feel even more comfortable removing what Allah (azz awa jal) has instructed them to protect.
Leading a fitness lifestyle doesn’t mean you have to use your gym membership weekly if you know you need rest from the environment or you want to try a new training style. There are so many options including park circuit training sessions which I will be providing in the South West London area very soon, God willing.
